Global shipping giant Maersk Line has announced the introduction of an enhanced Asia-Australia service, created by combining three existing services into one single rotation.
The newly-formed 'Boomerang Service' will commence on 27 September 2008, with ten vessels deployed on the line to ensure 'optimal combination of efficiency through size and ability to operate at economical speeds,' according to the group.
It will see a combination of the present AU1 (north Asia to and from Australia), AU2 (east Asia to and from Australia) and AU3 (south-east Asia to and from Australia) services.
The Boomerang North East Asia southbound rotation will be Yokohama, Nagoya, Osaka, Busan, Qingdao, Shanghai, Ningbo, Chiwan, Hong Kong, Kaohsiung, Sydney, Melbourne, Fremantle. The northbound rotation will be Fremantle, Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Yokohama, Nagoya, Osaka, Busan, Qingdao, Shanghai, Ningbo, Chiwan, Hong Kong, Kaohsiung.
Boomerang South East Asia's southbound rotation will be Singapore, Tanjung Pelepas, Fremantle, Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane. The northbound service will be Sydney, Melbourne, Fremantle, Singapore, Tanjung Pelepas.
