South Korea has increased its persimmon exports to Hong Kong this season and ramped up promotional activities in the city-state, reports produce website Fresh Plaza.
Korea expects to ship some 700 tonnes of persimmons to Hong Kong this season, up from 500 tonnes last year. And promotional efforts so far include a high profile advertising campaign on buses and trams across the city.
The Korean persimmon season, which started a week later than normal due to adverse growing conditions, will this year run from late October to mid-November. Fruit quality is reportedly good.
Korean persimmons will be available in supermarkets throughout Hong Kong once larger volumes come on stream, the report said.
