Global logistics group Kuehne + Nagel (K+N) has opened a new national gateway in Shanghai, adding to its existing regional facilities in Singapore and Sri Lanka.
The new gateway, which went active on Tuesday (1 May), offers 28 new services. The new services are particularly aimed at strengthening K+N’s less than container load (LCL) offering in the Asia Pacific.
Fixed-day, weekly services will run from the Shanghai hub to Europe, Latin America, South America and the Middle East, operated by K+N’s in-house non-vessel operating common carrier (NVOCC) Blue Anchor Line, the company said in a statement.
K+N explained the Shanghai hub will also connect with Dalian, Tianjin, Qingdao, Ningbo and Xiamen in China’s north via domestic feeder and trucking services.
The company announced in April the first three months of this year yielded an “unsatisfactory result”, with a decline in net earnings on the same period last year. K+N said the company’s growth was still above market average, however.
