Aeon, Japan's largest retail group, is planning to open seven shopping centres in Vietnam, reports Vietnamese newspaper Thoi Bao Kinh Te Sai Gon.

Construction work on its first centre, Aeon Tan Phu Celadon, is due to start next year and be completed by early 2014, Aeon CEO Nagahisa Oyama told the paper.

The store, which will cost US$100m to build, will be located in Ho Chi Minh City's Tan Phu district.

Mr Oyama told the publication that the Aeon Tan Phu centre will be the first of an extensive network of shopping centres built across Vietnam in future.

According to the report, Aeon also plans to invest in entertainment, recreation, restaurant, bar and gym facilities in Vietnam.
