Six Taiwanese fruit products have been banned from entering Indonesia for the next six months, according to the China Post.
As a protective measure for Indonesian growers, the importation of Taiwanese durians, pineapples, melons, bananas, mangos and papayas have been stopped until the end of June.
The six products make up the bulk of Taiwan's fruit exports to South East Asia.
Indonesia’s government has also imposed a half-year ban on Taiwanese potatoes, cabbages, peppers and carrots in a bid to support their own fruit and fresh produce growers.
The China Post reported the ban might extend to the end of 2013.
Under new regulations, which took effect in the last quarter of 2012, Indonesian importers were forced to re-apply for import permits, and they must also submit import plan estimates for all the fruits they wish to bring in under an import quota system.
