An Indian e-commerce site for fresh produce has received undisclosed funding from software enterprise firm Wingify to help it expand across the country.
Vegfru, a business-to-business online marketplace for trading fruit and vegetables, is currently focusing on a pan-India presence and is said to be considering partnerships with local delivery firms.
Designed to link producers with wholesalers and retailers, Vegfru claims to have around 5,000 suppliers and buyers signed up, according to news outlet The Tech Portal, and is reportedly processing roughly 60 orders a week.
Members must buy a subscription to the site, which also charges a service fee ranging of between four and five per cent per transaction, The Tech Portal reported.
It comes as new fruit and veg online trading platform Fruitspot unveiled plans to expand into Europe and the rest of the world at the start of this year.
