Indian fresh fruit importer IG International has received 1,000 containers of apples from North American pipfruit grower-packer-exporter Stemilt Apples over the current season.
The milestone was marked with a lavish event at Hotel Lalit in New Delhi last week, with Mark Wallace, acting minister counsellor for the USDA in India, the guest of honour.
Wallace and Stemilt’s William Young both delivered presentations about the emergence of India as market for US apple exports, while Prakash Thakur, an ex-member of APEDA and a local apple grower himself, highlighted how imported apples have benefitted Indian producers.
Guests were also treated to a cooking demonstration from celebrity masterchef, Ajay Chopra, while artist Rabin Bar kept the audience entertained with his speed painting skills.
“This celebration underlines our decade-old promise and commitment of delivering, exotic and delicious fruits to our customers,” explained IG International director, Tarun Arora. “The arrival of the 1000th container of Stemilt apples is a testimony to the growth we are experiencing as part of this partnership and the exciting future it holds.
“We are also happy to continue our association with Stemilt Growers and look forward to providing only the best quality, tastiest, and freshest produce to our customers in the coming years in association with this world-renowned brand.”
Young, Stemilt’s senior exports manager, said his company was extremely proud to see its association with IG International grow from strength to strength.
“Stemilt Growers is happy to be a catalyst to IG’s sustained growth and expansion in several parts of the country,” he said. “We look forward to nurturing this association and offering the best to more Indian consumers.”
