German container shipping line Hamburg Süd has taken delivery of 2,000 new Daikin reefer container refrigeration units.
The company has placed several large orders for the units over the last five years and now has a significant proportion of their temperature-controlled fleet made up of the devices.
"Our decision to purchase these latest Daikin LXE10E refrigeration units was triggered by a number of key reasons," said Martin Schoeler, Hamburg Süd's deputy director of logistics technology.
The carrier said that reduce costs, energy savings and precision of temperature control were key factors in its decision to invest in the new equipment.
The refrigeration units will provide precise temperature control, lower power consumption and increased reliability, and Hamburg Süd is also retrofitting its existing refrigeration units with new Daikin software to improve performance.
