US vertically integrated avocado supplier GreenFruit has announced its merger with Mexican grower-packer FrutiVal to create direct sourcing programmes for its clients.
The merger will create direct programmes from Mexico to the US and overseas markets throughout the year, with FrutiVal also providing GreenFruit Avocados with a packhouse facility in Uruapan, Michoacan.
The merger is part of GreenFruit’s goals to grow both in the US and Asia, offering consistent, steady supply for its customers as avocado consumption continues to grow.
FrutiVal general director Yngacio Valerio said he was happy with the new partnership.
“This alliance presents exciting new opportunities for our clients to obtain avocados directly from the grower,” Valerio said in a statement released 28 March. “GreenFruit clients can expect fresh fruit, and a fully compliant food safety programme. We see a long, successful partnership with GreenFruit Avocados to provide our clientele with a service they can trust.”
“I am extremely excited about the new partnership,” added GreenFruit Avocados VP Brian Gomez. “Not only does this make us a direct grower and packer in Mexico, but it also enables us to customize programs for our clients in the USA and around the world.”
