Japanese fresh product importer-marketer Goldspan has announced the appointment of Masahiko Ishimitsu as the company’s new president and CEO.
Mr Ishimitsu was born and raised in Yokohama but moved to Canada at 17 where he qualified as a certified public accountant.
He started his career in supply chain and shipping logistics after which he joined Deloitte and Coopers Lybrand as auditor and tax consultant.
On returning to Japan he worked in a number of different management roles before gaining experience in developing new business with Japanese retailers such as Aeon, Ito Yokado and Tokyu Hands.
Before moving to Goldspan, Mr Ishimitsu worked with SPX Flow, a US-based company that provided process equipment to dairy product companies.
He will replace Charles Olson who has acted as Goldspan president since the end of 2010.
Goldspan is a 100 per cent owned subsidiary of Capespan and has its head office in Tokyo and a satellite office in Osaka.
