After establishing the Valleyfresh business more than 20 years ago, co-founder Garth Lockyer has announced his retirement from his full-time executive position with the fresh produce company.
Lockyer will stay on as non-executive chairman and as a consultant on special projects for the Melbourne-based company.
Lockyer established Valleyfresh as an import business alongside Jamie Craig, and has since built the company into a wholesale and retail supplier, running pre-pack operations in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Perth, with Valleyfresh now exporting fresh produce into Asia from its offices in Australia, New Zealand, the US, Indonesia, South Africa, Peru and Chile.
Valleyfresh CEO Murray McCallum praised Lockyer for his development of the business, adding that there was more growth to come in the years ahead.
“This growth and where Valleyfresh is today is a testament to Garth’s hard work, dedication and core values of always going the extra distance to deliver quality produce to customers in a timely fashion,” McCallum said. “I wish Garth the very best in his retirement. His first task will be to visit the UK and get the All Blacks across the line in the World Cup!”
