Frutas de Chile and Sichuan Port and Shipping Investment Group sign collaboration agreement to promote fruit trade
Frutas de Chile and Sichuan Port and Shipping Investment Group have signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at promoting fruit trade and logistical cooperation between the Chilean fruit industry and the western regions of China.
The signing took place during a visit to Chile of Huang Qiang, governor of Sichuan, who headed up a delegation of businessmen from the province to strengthen bilateral trade links.
The agreement covers commercial visits, information sharing, cooperation activities and other related matters between both entities in the field of agricultural trade and other areas.
Iván Marambio, president of Frutas de Chile, said the agreements comes at a good time, as Frutas de Chile will shortly be visiting Sichuan to promote the 2024/25 cherry campaign.
“Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan province, is one of the cities that the Cherry Committee has determined as strategic to increase the volume of cherries. What we are trying to implement is to go beyond the classic cities, therefore, heading to central China. We want to implement the consumption of cherries not only as a gift, but also as a snack in order to promote consumption at all meals and at all times, along with increasing consumption among the young population,” Marambio said.
