China’s fresh produce market is changing fast, and Fresh Produce Forum China – the new national conference and expo event co-launched by Asia Fruit Logistica and Asiafruit Magazine in Chengdu on 31 May-2 June – provides a unique insight to the latest trends and developments.
New market opportunities in western China; the direction of food retailing across the country; the changing trade landscape for imported fruits; and moves to upgrade domestic production are just some of the topics up for discussion on Fresh Produce Forum China’s diverse conference programme.
Taking place at the deluxe Ritz-Carlton Hotel in the heart of Chengdu, the event kicks off with a Welcome Reception sponsored by leading Chinese fruit importer Lantao on the evening of 31 May. Fresh Produce Forum China’s conference sessions run throughout the day on 1 June, concluding with a Gala Cocktail Reception. A programme of organised field tours follows on 2 June, incorporating leading wholesale, retail and production operations.

The second session will look at moves to modernise farming and the supply chain, and examine the growing efforts of domestic producers to target Chinese consumer demands for branded-high quality produce. Case studies will showcase some exciting domestic production ventures and products that are poised to make an impact on the market.

Fresh Produce Forum China also explores new import sourcing opportunities for Chinese buyers. As more products and suppliers gain access to the Chinese market, a special session examines their commercial prospects. It includes analysis of how free trade agreements are set to change the landscape of China’s fresh fruit import market. In addition, local experts will share advice on negotiating access, and discuss entry strategies for those looking to gain access to China.
After a 90-minute networking lunch, delegates can choose between two breakout sessions – one looking at more effective marketing to Chinese consumers, the other spotlighting the rapid development of China’s kiwifruit industry.
