The first shipment of Malaysian pineapples arrived at Shanghai’s Puding International Airport late September, according to Xinhua.
The Chinese state media agency has reported that 120kg of the fruit will be sold in Shanghai – the first batch to reach China since the trade protocol was signed in May.
The agreement between China and Malaysia was one of three Memoranda of Understand (MoU) signed during the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation in Beijing on 13 of May.
Under the MoU, Malaysia can export 12,000 tonnes of pineapples to China each year, sourced from two approved plantations.
