The Port of Valparaíso’s South Pacific Terminal (TPS) has kicked off its 2024/25 cherry campaign with the departure of the first shipment to Asia.
The Seaspan Belief ship, operated by Ocean Network Express (ONE), was loaded with 5,000 tonnes of cherries, equivalent to 240 containers.
According to Agenda Marítima, this is one of 17 Cherry Express services that will leave from the port this season, two more than in the previous campaign, making Valparaíso and TPS the main point of departure for Chilean cherries ahead of the Chinese New Year festival.
The Cherry Express service was launched six years ago to provide a direct service to the Asian market in just 23 days.
