South Korean-based retail chain E-mart has ended its partnership with Vietnamese real estate company U&I Investment Corporation, according to Inside Retail Asia. E-mart now plans to operate independently in the South East Asian nation.
“We now seek to establish a branch office in Vietnam independently,” E-mart chief executive Hur Inn-chul was quoted by Inside Retail.
“Our first discount store in Vietnam will open in three years. The outlet will be built in Ho Chi Minh City and we’ve acquired land for the construction.”
Inn-chul said E-mart will continue operating in Mongolia through Ulaanbaatar-based trading company Altai Holdings.
