The AP Møller-Maersk group's supply chain management arm Damco is targeting growth in India over the next 4-5 years and plans to treble its presence in the country during that period.
India makes up 9 per cent of the company's global volumes and its chief said the company is prepared to invest heavily in the country to meet its goals, NDTV reported.
With plans to dramatically expand its warehousing capacity, Damco is exploring partnerships with Indian firms who can provide road and rail transport solutions.
The company's high hopes come from the 25 per cent growth of its Indian business last year, despite global volumes falling by almost 30 per cent.
Rolf Habben-Jansen, Damco's global CEO, said India is a big growth market for the company.
