US retail Costco Wholesale Corp has announced plans for dramatic expansion in Taiwan with an investment of around NT$30bn (US$940m).
The plan would see a new distribution centre and new stores, an official from Taiwan’s economic ministry told a local press conference on Tuesday.
Costco’s new distribution centre would account for NT$1bn (US$31m) of the investment.
The retailer had a strong desire to invest in Taiwan, Costco’s regional marketing manager for Taiwan Nora Wang told Reuters.
