Reformed citrus industry group Citrus Australia has held its first annual general meeting (AGM), appointing a new chairperson to lead the body through its next 12 months.
Citrus Australia held the meeting on Tuesday in Renmark, South Australia, and member re-elected Kevin Cock and Kevin Parr to serve on the board, with directors appointing Tania Chapman as chair and Kevin Parr as deputy chair.
“I look forward to working with the board and the industry over the next 12 months on key priorities including biosecurity, market access and development and communication,” Ms Chapman said in a press release.
Ms Chapman, director of a grape and citrus grower, moves up from the deputy chair position. She applauded outgoing chairperson Kelly Jones on her efforts guiding Citrus Australia through its first year.
“Kelly has been instrumental in shaping our business bringing a professional and independent approach to our industry,” she said.
Citrus Australia was formed in November 2008 in a reshaping of former body Australian Citrus Growers.
The group is a grower-owned and directed body dedicated to representing the interests of the A$440m (US$398m) industry.
