China will host the upcoming World Kiwifruit Conference in Shaanxi province from 13-15 October, according to the China Daily.

The conference will include an export forum and seminars, with China Daily reporting that the Royal New Zealand Institute of Horticulture, Zespri, China’s Northwest A&F University and the Shaanxi Fruits Bureau will announce a strategic cooperation agreement on kiwifruit technology.

Wen Yinxue, party chief of the agriculture department of Shaanxi province, told media during a press conference in Beijing that Shaanxi produces around 1.3m tonnes of kiwifruit each year, with one of the largest concentrated plantation areas globally.

'To market Shaanxi's kiwifruit industry, it is decided that the World Kiwifruit Conference will be held in this province,' Wen said.
