Chinese professor Jiang Quan, from the Institute of Pomology and Forestry at the Beijing Academy of Agricultural and Forestry Sciences, has visited Australia in the hope of boosting research and development ties between the two nations.
Quan is specifically looking at ways to bolster the production of peaches, a fruit that originated in the People’s Republic. With China continuing to develop and cultivate a wide range of unique peach varieties, Quan said the country’s growers could benefit from advice on modern production techniques and technologies being adopted in Australia.
“If we have a co-operative project- maybe we can do the works efficiently,' Quan told the ABC. 'We need to help the researchers here to visit China to introduce techniques to Chinese researchers.”
