The China Development Bank (CDB) announced it will extend US$7.93bn of loans in support of the country's domestic vegetable transport infrastructure between southern and northern regions, reports www.shanghaidaily.com.
CDB has pledged to support the southern Guangxi Zhuang automonous region's role of supplying vegetables for northern cities in winter and spring with the construction of a modern distribution network for agricultural goods, the article said.
China's central government last year announced the inclusion of Guangxi, Hainan and Yunnan in a pilot programme for vegetable transportation to northen cities in winter in an effort to stabilise vegetable supply and prices, according to the report.
