The Sweeki kiwifruit brand will now have a presence in Asia year-round.
Origine Group - the owner of the brand – has entered a partnership agreement with a Chilean producer to procure kiwifruit over the Southern Hemisphere production window. This fruit will compliment volumes from Origine Group’s European production bases.
The first containers of Chilean-grown Sweeki kiwifruit have already landed in China, with shipments set to arrive in Indonesia and Malaysia over the coming weeks.
Asian markets, and in particular China, have become a key focus for Origine Group over the past six months, with the first consignment of Sweeki kiwifruit entering the People’s Republic in January this year.
Origine Group general manager, Alessio Orlandi, said the brand was gaining traction with consumers on the back of a variety of promotional initiatives, with the Chilean supply helping to grow this momentum.
“Supply continuity is the key basis for creating brand recognition, but more important is to provide the same quality standard to the customers throughout the year,” Orlandi explained. “The first important step has been made.”
