Chilean table grape exports to Asia are tracking well for this time of year according to data from Chilean firm SimFruit.
Up until week 22, over 6,000 tonnes of black seedless grapes had been shipped to the region, 53 per cent higher than in 2008/09, while red seedless varieties had risen by 17 per cent to 15,283 tonnes.
By far the biggest market for Chilean red seedless grapes is South Korea, taking over half of shipments, followed by the Philippines and Hong Kong.
Hong Kong is the largest Asian importer of black seedless variety Autumn Royal, with Taiwan in second place, followed by China.
