Fruittrade 2010, the 8th International Business Round Table organised by Fedefruta (the Fruit Growers’ Federation of Chile), is set to take place on 6-7 October in the Chilean capital Santiago.
The event will be held at the Santiago Sheraton Hotel, alongside the Fedefruta's annual National Fruit and Vegetable Producers’ Convention – a mega-seminar in which technical lectures on market management will take place.
Chile is a leading exporter of fruit and vegetables, offering over 70 different products to more than 70 markets on five continents.
According to organisers, the two events will provide a platform for fruit and vegetable buyers from around the world to meet with Chilean exporters, establish contacts, and generate new business.
Last year, over 1,100 delegates attended Fruittrade and the Fedefruta convention, comprising producers, buyers, suppliers and specialists.
A total of 683 meetings took place, with the total volume of fruit offered for trade purposes valued at US$400m.
According to a survey carried out among last year’s participants, 100 per cent of importers questioned claimed to have established contacts for future fruit purchases; leading 92 per cent of those polled indicating that they plan to return this year.
Fruittrade 2010 will be a particularly special event this year given that, aside from the world economy emerging from the crisis, Fedefruta will also be celebrating its 25th anniversary alongside the bicentenary of Chilean independence.
