Thailand’s Central FamilyMart plans to add 60 new convenience stores to its network this year, according to Inside Retail Asia.
The move is part of the retailer’s ambitious plan to have more than 2,000 convenience stores across the South East Asian nation within the next five years. Central FamilyMart currently operates just over 1,100 convenience stores across the country.
“We are still confident in the high growth potential of convenience stores in the Thai market as shoppers appreciate convenience and diversity as well as product quality,” Central FamilyMart president Chiranun Poopat told Inside Retail Asia.
“We will focus on opening more FamilyMart stores in Bangkok and the surrounding areas, as well as cities and destinations visited by foreign tourists.”
