French retailer Casino has announced that groupsales climbed through the fourth quarter (Q4) of the year, up 14.5 per cent to a total €9.5bn, compared with €8.3bn last year.
In the group's domestic market, sales climbed slightly by 1.8 per cent to €4.9bn, with convenience formats in particular enjoying a positive quarter, the group said.
International markets, which now account for 48 per cent of the retailer's overall sales, saw growth of 32.1 per cent to €4.6bn.
Latin America saw an improvement of 11.7 per cent in sales on an organic basis, driven by a sustained progression on a same-store basis, and while sales in Thailand were hit by flooding, they were partially offset by a sharp rise in Vietnamese same-store sales.
