CenCar Co, Carrefour's operation in Thailand, has launched its first retail development project with the opening of a community mall in the Suan Luang area, at a cost of THB140m.
The mall boasts a Carrefour premium mini-hypermarket as a main magnet and another 18 tenants with total space of 15,000m2. The Carrefour outlet contains approximately 30,000 items, of which 60 per cent are food products.
Praphan Ploysaengngam, marketing director at CenCar, said: 'It's the first time in Asia that Carrefour has developed a community mall by itself. This will help create flexibility for us to expand our retail outlets.'
CenCar is expected to open one or two more outlets this year, with one being a mini-hypermarket concept store.
