A new report from multinational aerospace group Boeing has predicted future growth for the global air cargo market, lead by markets connecting the Asia-Pacific region.

According to Boeing's World Air Cargo Forecast, the global airfreight market is expected to grow at around 5.2 per cent a year over the next two decades, Lloyd's Loading List reported.

Boeing suggested that growth will be driven by increased world GDP, and will be lead by markets connecting Asia-Pacific, with domestic China and intra-Asia traffic experiencing the highest growth.

'Air cargo is, and will continue to be, a vital tool for global businesses and commerce in the management if supply chains and bringing critical goods to the market,' said Tom Crabtree, Boeing's regional director of business development and strategic integration.
