Importer-exporter Berli Jucker (BJC) has made a bid for 100 per cent ownership of retailer Big C Thailand, reports Inside Retail Asia.
BJC bought a majority stake in the hypermarket chain earlier this month, acquiring 58.6 per cent of Big C Thailand from French retailer Casino Group for US$6.2bn.
The firm will now tender an offer US$7.09 a share for the remaining 41.45 per cent stake. The acquisition will mean buying out the founding partners and minor shareholders for around US$2.44bn.
BJC is the retail business of TCC group owned by Thai tycoon Charoan Sirivadhanabhakdi.
