Bharti Walmart, the joint venture between Bharti Enterprises and Walmart has expanded its presence into Rajastan with the opening of a 5,000m2Best Price Modern Wholesale store in the city if Kota.
The store is a one-stop business-to-business outlet to supply restaurants, hotels, caterers, fruit and vegetable retailers, kiranas and other retail stores.
In a press release Bharti Walmart chairman Rajan Bharti Mittal said the opening of the store would create new jobs and strengthen Rajastan’s economy.
Managing Director and CEO of the company Raj Jain added that the store would help modernise retail in the area.
“In India, out of the estimated 12m kirana stores only 10 per cent or so are supported by FMCG `Fast Moving Consumer Goods` companies directly. Our business-to-business Best Price Modern Wholesale cash-and-carry store in Kota provides to our members the benefits of price, convenience, choice, quality and hygiene.”
The new store will also have the successful ‘Mera Kirana’ program that shares best practices with small and medium retailers on various aspects of using low cost modern techniques and processes such as assortment planning, layout and fixtures, displays, backroom, licenses, safe food handling, customer retention and value added services.
The company plans to open 10-15 business-to-business wholesale stores over the next three years. The first was opened in Amritsar in May of last year.
Best Price Modern Wholesale stores have so far been opened in Amritsar, Zirakpur, Jalandhar and Kota.
