Ecuadorian banana producer BanaBay is focusing on expanding its brand in China after more than doubling its shipments of bananas in the first quarter of 2014.
BanaBay ships 16 containers of bananas to China every week, where it's quickly securing a name as a premium, reliable brand.
“China is an important part of the future development of BanaBay, so we have focused on building strong relationships with our customers in this massive potential marketplace,” said BanaBay’s business development manager for China, Yuchi Li, in a press release.
Li said part of BanaBay’s strength is being able to cater for specific consumer needs. “In China, there is a preference for bananas to be supplied as full hands, which we can specify at plantation level with the option of packaging the fruit in variety of box weights,” said Li. “In addition, the Ecuadorian climate is more stable and not as subject to severe weather events as other parts of the world, so we maintain supply and quality throughout the year.”
BanaBay will make its Asia Fruit Logistica debut in Hong Kong in September, showcasing its range of bananas as well as launching a new product.
