An Australian-government funding agency has helped one of the country’s major citrus producers expand its packing facilities in the Riverland region.
According to a report by the ABC the government-backed Riverlands Futures Fund has contributed A$620,000 to the development, which is owned and operated by AgriExchange, a division of CostaExchange.
AgriExchange currently produces around 40 per cent of the state’s citrus crop, with the development of the packing facility estimated to be worth an additional A$30m to the sector.
Richie Roberts, divisional manager at AgriExchange, told the ABC the development would be fast-tracked thanks to the government funding.
