Officials from Vietnam’s Plant Protection Department toured citrus orchards and packinghouses, and observed the certification process for citrus in Argentina ahead of granting the Latin American nation market access.
The delegation visited the Noa Sur and Entre Rios regions from 25 to 29 August as part of the negotiating process to open Vietnam to citrus imports, lead by Argentina’s agricultural organisation, Senasa.
The Vietnamese delegation was satisfied with what they saw on their visit, according to Senasa, and emphasised both Senasa's cerfitication process as well as the work done by producers and packers to ensure the quality of the produce.
The visit comes after Argentina was registered as an official supplier of animal and produce to Vietnam in June, with access to be granted once Vietnam sends Senasa its final report of the visit along with the phytosanitary requirements of citrus exports.
