APL Logistics has begun offering a container trucking service between the Cambodian capital Phnom Penh to Vietnam’s port of Cai Mep.
The ‘Cross-Border Trucking’ service is targeting a rising number of companies sourcing FMCG goods in Cambodia, and aims to cut transit times to markets like the US, reported the Journal of Commerce.
“Cross-Border Trucking is a service recovery solution designed for shippers when production runs unexpectedly late,” said Glenn Kong, managing director for APL Logistics in Cambodia.
“Trucking from Phnom Penh to Cai Mep can also reduce transit times by as much as four days compared to feeder services from Sihanoukville port or barge services from the Phnom Penh river port to Cai Mep port.”
Cai Mep is becoming an important port for the growing containerised traffic in Vietnam.
