The Port of Antwerp has announced that it will collaborate closely over the next five years with Rosmorport, the state-owned Russian company that looks after the interests of all Russian seaports.
Antwerp's international subsidiary Port of Antwerp International signed the agreement against the background of 'excellent trade relations between Russia and Antwerp', and will collaborate in the fields of port development, expansion and attracting investment.
In addition, the companies will jointly examine how the energy efficiency of port facilities can be improved, and how renewable energy can be used for this purpose.
Meanwhile, the Port of Antwerp welcomed a delegation of Chilean fruit exporters to its facilities earlier in the month as it looked to solidify what is a crucial relationship for both parties.
Prior to last week's Fruit Logistica in Berlin (6-8 February), the Chilean party – including representatives from Asoex, Comit del Kiwi and Pro Chile – was able to meet members of the Fruit & Vegetable Perishables expertise group, an organisation established in 2012 to combine the expertise available within the port community in a bid to attract more reefer trade to Antwerp.
