South Australia almond producer Almondco Australia has won the 2016 Regional Exporter Award at the 54th Australian Export Awards.
The Renmark-based company was established as grower cooperative in 1944, processing and marketing for around 85 per cent of the country’s almond growers. Since then, it was expanded and during 2015/16 exported 9,700 tonnes of almonds to more than 35 countries across Asia, Europe the Middle East and North America.
Marketing its products under its AlmondcoPure brand, the company has invested in processing and pasteurisation systems to produce premium almonds and ensure high returns for its growers.
Australian Export Awards judges said Almondco has positive export growth prospects and is “a strong advocate of the Australian agricultural industry”.
