German discounter Aldi is cracking into the Chinese market with an online store on e-commerce giant Alibaba’s Tmall platform, according to Reuters.
Aldi will launch its online store this month, selling its own brand products sourced from Australia suppliers, with a soft launch scheduled for 20 March and a full launch in Shanghai on 25 April.
The initial focus will be on wine, snacks and breakfast produce, with Aldi already launching its Chinese language corporate sute, with the slogan 'handpicked for you'.
