AgriNurture is looking to expand its export operations after acquiring a 1,000ha banana plantation in Davao, according to Malaya Business Insight.
The Philippine grower-exporter plans to grow 40,000 tonnes of cavendish bananas per annum at the plantation, with an eye on increasing supply to key Asian markets.
“We are looking into shipping more of our produce to China, the Middle East, Japan and Korea,” AgriNurture CEO Antonio Tiu told Malaya Business Insight.
“We are looking for area expansion to increase our supply.”
Tiu was confident about increasing the volume of Chinese exports, despite the more stringent protocols being imposed last year.
The firm already ships bananas, mangoes and pineapple to China, along with the Middle East and North America.
