Japanese retailer Aeon has invested US$30m in refurbishing its Tsuen Wan store in Hong Kong.
The new-look shopping centre opened in early October, with Aeon MD Christine Chan telling Inside Retail Asia that it had adopted more Japanese elements to meet the rising demand for high-quality goods from the suburb’s increasingly affluent residents.
“In recent years, the increasing consumption power of residents in Tsuen Wan has raised their demand on the standard of the type and quality of commodities being offered,” Chan said. “In order to cater to the taste of consumers in the district, the brand new Aeon Tsuen Wan Store has introduced more Japanese elements as its highlight, while providing a more diverse range of merchandise and dining choices.”
The upgrade also includes a larger supermarket with a cooking demonstration area.
