Leading Japanese retailer Aeon has acquired 14 Hypermarket Asia supermarkets in Myanmar through its new joint venture Aeon Orange.
The company is eyeing its first Aeon supermarket to open in Myanmar this year, according to a accompany statement, hoping to capitalise on the country’s modernisng retail market and growing middle-class.
“With the establishment, Aeon, as a group, strives to contribute to modernisation of retail industry in Myanmar and creation of peaceful and enriched lives of local customers, thorough developing the retail market and offering new values to the local customer,” the company said.
