The shipping groups that make up the Asia-Australia Discussion Agreement (AADA) have revealed that they are set to lower bunker surcharges imposed on cargo moving to Australia from China and Hong Kong.
Charges will drop from US$475 per TEU and US$950 per FEU for dry and refrigerated containers to US$325 and US$650 respectively, the body said in a statement.
The group attributed the move to a recent decrease in the price of fuel in Hong Kong and South Korea.
The 13-member AADA consists of ANL Singapore, China Shipping Container Lines, Cosco, Hamburg Süd, Hanjin Shipping, Hyundai Merchant Marines, K Line, Maersk Line, Mediterranean Shipping Co, MOL, NYK Line, Orient Overseas Container Line and Gold Star Line.
