Jean-Philippe Azoulay has taken the helm of the European Crop Protection Association (ECPA), taking up the position of director general.
Jean-Charles Bocquet, who has been director general of the organisation since 2013, recently informed the board of directors of his plan to retire on 31 October 2016.
Azoulay, who was previously with Dupont, is a former president of ECPA.
Prior to being global division leader of Dupont's nutrition division, Azoulay was regional director of their European crop protection business.
He will start as director general-elect effective immediately, and will then have the time to partner with Bocquet on transition plans before the General Assembly confirms his role of director general formally on 24 November.
Commenting on his appointment Azoulay said: 'I am grateful to the board of directors for giving me this opportunity and pleased to have been chosen as the next director general, ECPA. I am proud of the contribution the crop protection industry makes to sustainable agriculture and I know that we have a dynamic industry that is always looking to improve itself and meet the public's expectations. We have a truly exciting future and I am honoured to lead the association forward.”
