Sun World International has announced appointments to its Sun World Innovations division, bolstering its licensing and variety development team.
Garth Swinburn has been appointed as vice president of licensing and Terry Bacon as vice president of variety development.
Swinburn has managed Sun World’s Australia and New Zealand licensing business since 2011, and will now take the lead on the company’s global licensing staff and activities that span South America, Europe, South Africa, Australia and the US.
Bacon joined Sun World as a fruit breeder in 2000 and has managed research programmes since 2008. He will now oversee all of Sun World’s table grape and stonefruit breeding and variety development, with the aid of Terrence Frett, who has been appointed assistant fruit breeder.
Sun World executive vice president David Marguleas said the appointments were part of the company’s commitment to innovation and providing retailers and consumers with year-round supply of its unique, branded fruit.
“Sun World has distinguished itself as a leading breeder, grower, marketer and licensor of exceptional fruit varieties,” Marguleas said. “Terry and Garth are proven leaders in our fruit breeding and licensing business and will be instrumental in helping to further bolster Sun World’s global footprint in grape and stonefruit development.”
