Exports from New Zealand to Australia have increased fivefold in 10 years, new figures show.
Horticulture New Zealand released the data in its Fresh Facts annual report published last week. It shows there was a 3.1 per cent increase in fresh produce sendings last year, despite the high value of the NZ dollar.
Asian markets have also experienced growth in sales. Over the past decade exports to Australia have risen from NZ$159 million (£78m) in 2000 to NZ$756m in 2011 despite ongoing issues around market access for apples, potatoes and kumara.
