Beacon Foods new boiler is proving to be cost-efficient according to operations manager Paul Jones

Beacon Foods is steaming ahead, thanks to a new boiler supplied by Bristol-based Fulton Boiler Works.

The oil-fired 20 horsepower vertical steam boiler has been installed at the company's processing plant. It powers a bratpan for cooking, is used as a fire suppression system for chargrilling equipment and is also linked to two ovens for cooking and cleaning.

The boiler produces 320 kilograms of steam per hour and is mid-range in Fulton's vertical series. Paul Jones, operations manager at Beacon Foods, said: “We have turned the boiler into a multi-purpose unit, which is very cost-effective. It generates the steam and then we choose how to use it. We now have enough steam to run both ovens at the same time.”
