The National Farmers Union (NFU) has launched a scheme to help farmers who are facing the challenge of meeting job needs during the peak harvest period.

Farmers and growers are being encouraged to sign up to the virtual job centre that aims to link those looking for seasonal summer work with farm vacancies. Farmers and growers are invited to list their job needs which will then be posted on the NFU's website.

NFU board for Horticulture member Peter Wensak has responsibility for employment. He said: 'The NFU regularly hears from people looking for seasonal work outdoors. All we need now is for farmers and growers to let us have their details of their seasonal vacancies.' Farmers who are interested in publishing their details should contact nfu@nfuonline.com. The job centre is available to NFU members only.
